These 13cm (5.1in) charm square packs have been made from a selection of discontinued fabrics made by Olympus Thread Mfg. Co., inspired by traditional Japanese fabrics, including kasuri ikat, komon stencil dyes, and sarasa (inspired by Indian Chintz). Olympus won't be making any more in this series, so once they are gone, they are gone!
This subtle selection of 40 x 13cm charm squares has ten different fabrics with four squares of each. They are all prints, although some are imitating woven patterns. The fabric thicknesss vary a little, but all are slightly thicker than most patchwork prints, and with a linen like texture. All cut and packed for you by Olympus Thread Mfg. Co., Japan.
All the packs I have been sent seem to be identical, just some packed in a different order, although there may be very slight differences in fabric prints. Because some are cut from fabrics with several different patterns on one cloth, or from faux patchwork or boro fabrics, it may look like there are more than 10 different prints.
What will you make with yours? They would be great for boro inspired work. The larger size means they could be used to make half square triangles or cut into quarters for four patch blocks that could then be trimmed to fit with the 10cm charm pack squares, or they could be mixed with 5in Moda charm packs.
