Staying with a garden theme, this 'Butterfly Garden' print by Winterprint for FreeSpirit has some very realistic butterflies, in browns and blues, flitting about among large blossoms, in shades of purple, lilac, yellow, and deep red on a pale blue background. I think the butterflies may include a Blue Monarch and Tawny Emperor, but I'm not a butterfly expert, so don't quote me on that! Whatever kind they are, they are pretty and highly detailed.

Printed on patchwork weight cotton, this fabric also makes an unusual coordinate for my sashiko panels, and the colours can be matched from my extensive range of sashiko threads. Free Spirit fabrics are printed on a 68 count cotton rather than the 60 count used for many other brands, meaning they are slightly finer than many patchwork fabrics and are also suitable for making clothing.
