'Checkerboard' from Spring Fever by Jane Sassaman is a bold design of colourful circles on the white squares of a two colour blue checkerboard. The two different blues in the squares combined with the greens, pinks, yellow and orange of the dots makes for a vibrant combination. Checkerboard squares are approx 3/4in (2cm) across, so the circles are approx. 3/4in diameter too.
 
It would make an unusual coordinate for sashiko, as well as being ideal for patchwork, dressmaking etc. I think it will be a fun fabric for big stitch quilting, with lines crossing diagonally through the circles, or even adapting one of the hitomezashi (one stitch) sashiko patterns as a big stitch quilting design!
