This stunning bi-directional design (first photo) is reminiscent of formal women's furisode kimono designs, with an 'all seasons' floral design (plum, cherry, peony and chrysanthemum) over a background with traditional asanoha (hemp leaf) and sayagata (saya brocade) patterns on a black background. The peonies and background designs are done in a spotted pattern derived from kanoko (fawn spot) tie dye designs. Silver metallic adds a shimmering sparkle . Perfect for adding that authentic touch to your Japanese themed project.
'Matchi', while sounding like 'machi' (town) is also a word loaned into Japanese from English - 'matching'.
I used a lot of these kinds of prints in my books 'Japanese Quilt Blocks to Mix and Match' and 'Japanese Quilt Inspirations', and they aren't so easy to find at the moment, so I'm always pleased when I spot another design I love.
