Prettily decorated folding fans and flowers are scattered across this print, in multicolours on black, with golden snowflake circles in the background. An 'all seasons' design that is perfect for adding that authentic touch to your Japanese themed project.
'Yobi' has multiple meanings in Japanese, and can mean extra, reserve, or spare - there's plenty of 'extras' in this with the dense motifs - and it is also used on the end of the days of the week, which are named after the five elements, plus the sun and the moon - so starting from Sunday, we have sun, moon, fire, water, wood, gold and earth.
I used a lot of these kinds of prints in my books 'Japanese Quilt Blocks to Mix and Match' and 'Japanese Quilt Inspirations', and they aren't so easy to find at the moment, so I'm always pleased when I spot another design I love.
