This truly is 'one from the vaults' - my wholesaler has unearthed some treasures that must have been at the back of the warehouse for years! Hence the great discount price that I am passing on directly to YOU!

This leopard skin print patchwork cotton is Oeko-tex certified, but apart from that there is no clue to the brand - although the design number seems to link to a very similar pattern from Windham Fabrics. Could this be an earlier version?

I searched high and low for a faux leopard skin fabric like this when I was making my 'Cinnabar and Nutmeg' quilt, inspired by an early C19th quilt in the V&A, which has large squares of a leopard skin cotton print in the corners. It might seem like a strange pattern for the early C19th, but in the first quarter of the century, novelty animal skin prints were just as much the rage as chintzes, palampores, trees of life, Chinoiserie, and all things Indian. I would have used this fabric if I'd found it at the time, and will keep a little for future quilts inspired by early C19th designs.

To give an idea of the scale, the first photo shows a detail approx. 8in wide while the second photo shows the full width of the fabric.

This fabric makes an interesting coordinate for my sashiko panels, and the colours can be matched from my extensive range of sashiko threads

I don't think it will be around long at this price.
