Medium mercerised sashiko thread 100m skein, shade #304 'yosegi zaiku' (first photo)- dyed with 6 colours!  One of four new rainbow colours. Suitable for all your sashiko and boro stitching.  May be used double or singly.

The manufacturer says - ' The color is inspired by the Japanese traditional craft, "Yosegi Zaiku,'' which involves assembling wood of various types and colors to create patterns. With deep colors, you can enjoy the texture of marquetry just by stitching the squares.' It would certainly be a lot of fun to stitch some of the traditional patterns found in Yosegi Zaiku from Hakone using this thread. The parquetry patterns include many geometric designs which are also found in sashiko, such as asanoha (hemp leaf). We visited Hakone in search of yosegi in January 2015, and you can see some of the photos of the parquetry we saw on our trip on my blog.
Please note - this mercerised thread feels slightly smoother and thinner than the non-mercerised 20m sashiko thread. It is less likely to 'shred' or go slightly fluffy when stitching.
