This truly is 'one from the vaults' - my wholesaler has unearthed some treasures that must have been at the back of the warehouse for years! Hence the great discount price that I am passing on directly to YOU!

This is an unusual fabric to find outside Japan. Cotton chirimen crepe is popular there for all kinds of crafts, including patchwork, making kimono accessories like bags and han eri collars, and dressing traditional dolls, because the drape is second to none, but you need to be aware that it is crepe weave, and you probably know already that crepe seems to 'shrink' when washed. Actually, it just needs the fabric pressing out again to regain it's previous size, but for that reason, I wouldn't use it for a quilt. Pressing it out again for clothing is easy - just iron while damp.

This is from the Kyo Momen (Kyoto cotton) range by Lecien Japan. It is a reproduction of a traditional design featuring chrysanthemums and peonies, with a Taisho era (1912 - 1926) feeling. This listing is for the pink colourway. I also have this fabric in golden yellow (third photo) and lilac (fourth photo).

To give an idea of the scale, the first photo shows a detail approx. 8in square while the second photo shows the half width of the fabric. The last photo shows the texture of the chirimen crepe.

This fabric makes an interesting coordinate for my sashiko panels, and the colours can be matched from my extensive range of sashiko threads

I don't think it will be around long at this price.
