If you love Tim Holtz's style, you are going to love Seth Apter's fabrics too - more wonderfully 'grungy' fabrics, with a distressed appearance, making them a great choice for contemporary boro inspired stitching, as well as patchwork, quilting, wearables etc. There's plenty of text in Seth's designs, and I do find text on fabrics irresistable! 'On Your Mark' is his third collection for FreeSpirit, and it can be mixed and matched with his earlier collections.

Printed on patchwork weight cotton, this fabric makes an ideal coordinate for my sashiko panels, and the colours can be matched from my extensive range of sashiko threads. Free Spirit fabrics are printed on a 68 count cotton rather than the 60 count used for many other brands, meaning they are slightly finer than many patchwork fabrics and are also suitable for making clothing.

Seth Apter is a mixed media artist, instructor, author, and designer from New York City. He came to the world of art later in life, transitioning from a full-time career as a psychologist to being a full-time artist and maker. Seth’s artistic practice is based on the concepts of community and collaboration, and he believes in the power of art to bring people together. His work has been exhibited in multiple exhibitions and can be found in numerous books and national magazines. Seth has also published two books of his own, The Pulse of Mixed Media and The Mixed-Media Artist. His love of the creative energy that occurs when artists are brought together has led him to spend a great deal of time teaching workshops - both online and in person across the world. Closer to home, he is an instructor at Pratt Institute in NYC. As a designer, he has created collections with many companies over the years, including Impression Obsession, StencilGirl Products, Spellbinders, Emerald Creek Craft Supplies, WOW, Aladine and PaperArtsy. Art for him is everything and sharing the process in all these different forms makes it even better.
