'First Snow' is a range based on the paintings of Iosif Derecichei, a Romanian artist who has worked in Canada for over 20 years. Every brushstroke is beautifully captured in this collection from Northcott fabrics. This listing is for the 32 x 43in (81 x 109cm) fabric panel in the first photo, a snowy landscape with farm buildings among the trees. The digitally printed patchwork fabrics really show off his paintings, and would look superb in a patchwork with the other fabrics and panels in the collection (photos 2 - 7), to coordinate with sashiko, or to add printed texture to other projects.

Iosif Derecichei was born on October 8, 1962 in Marghita, a small city in western Romania. As a child he felt that drawing was something natural and could sketch with ease anything he saw.
He graduated from Art University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After the regime changed in Romania in 1989, it became possible for him to exhibit his paintings abroad. He started to collaborate with some galleries in Hungary having many exhibitions in Budapest, Debrecen and Keszthely.
He presented his paintings mostly in Hungary and Romania, but also exhibited in Austria, Japan and USA. He had a permanent collaboration with Koncz Gallery and Hungallery. Through them his artwork was presented in exhibitions in Western Europe, Japan and USA.
In 2004 he moved to Canada, where he has has numerous exhibitions.
