'Holly Jolly' from QT Fabrics is packed with vintage Christmas ephemera, telling a story of holiday celebrations from days gone by. I love this 36 x 42in (90 x 107cm) approx. large Santa panel, with a red border (first photo). There's also another 36” panel with pictorial 10in squares (photo 2 - 7), and a coordinating fabric with vintage ephmera scattered on a red background (photos 8 - 12), all done in antique Victorian fashion that will take you back in time.

Even though I now have my little shop, it really is squeezed for space for fabrics, so I have chosen my favourites from the new Christmas collections - there's plenty to coordinate between one collection and another. I thought this range went very well with the Tim Holtz Christmas fabrics, and also his Palette Red range. Quantities re limited and I can't reorder.

Santa seems to be paused temporarily in mid present delivery, with Victorian Gothic mansions in the background of this snowy scene. The panel would not only make a jolly quilt centre, it would make an amazing side panel for a truly huge Christmas gift sack!

  • A - This a great video from Mike Flynn from QT Fabrics showing you how to deal with panels or fabrics that have been pulled out of true because of the way they are packed onto the bolt for quilt shops. The info and tips he gives is true of all patchwork panels, not just those from QT - the panels are printed square, but the way the machine pulls them onto the folded bolt card for shops to stock pulls the fabric out of true a little. Especially for large panels, you want to get them back into true.

NB - don't do this with a sashiko panel or anything with wash out stitching lines, or you will remove the lines! Just ease those back into shape with a bit of gentle tugging, and square them up after you've stitched them.
