Arriving from Japan in early June - available for preorder now. NB - if preordered with other items, please note that this will delay the other items being sent out, as I will wait until your fabric is here.

A thicker cotton fabric from Olympus Thread Mfg. Co., excellent for sashiko, patchwork, bag making and other projects. It is made to look like old cloth, with subtle colours and a slight wrinkle in the texture, and feels like a soft, handwoven cotton. The weave is loose enough to easily stitch sashiko with fine, medium or thick sashiko threads. Ideal for wearables, boro style patchwork, or any project where an antique look is desired. This is shade #82 dark taupe, one of seven new colours. The third photo shows shade #1, so you can see the weave and texture clearly.

This is the same fabric, in shade #43, that was used for many of the projects and pattern directory samples in 'The Ultimate Sashiko Sourcebook', including the large sampler quilt opposite the title page.

108cm wide

Available in 30 beautiful colours as pre cuts, with many colours also available by the half metre or metre. Multiples, e.g. 2m, will be sent as one piece.

There is also a full bolt (5m) option, with a just over 5% discount on the metre price - you pay £128.25, instead of £135. Please note, full bolts will be a special order from Japan, and may take around 14 days to arrive in stock. So if you want a full bolt, please plan ahead.

  • Zigzag or overlock the edges before stitching sashiko, as this fabric will fray more than regular patchwork cottons.
