This sashiko cotton fabric from Olympus Thread Mfg. Co.  is printed with gold dots at 5mm intervals on dark blue, so you can use it to space your hitomezashi (one stitch sashiko) stitches perfectly, without needing to draw a grid first. Perfect for patterns including komezashi (rice stitch), kakinohanazashi (persimmon flower stitch) and many more, even hishizashi (diamond stitch) and urokozashi (scale stitch) can be spaced accurately using this fabric.  The dots wash out afterwards. The fabric is smooth and strong, not textured like Azumino or Kofu Tsumgui, or thin like the soft, absorbent sarashi cotton used for the sashiko sampler hanafukin (flower cloth) series, so it is suitable for all kinds of projects where extra durability is wanted, such as home dec, like cushions and placemats, or hard wearing bags and wearables. This listing is for the cream version of this fabric - I also have the cream and black.

110cm wide (dots cover approx. 105cm of the total width).

  • Zigzag or overlock the edges before stitching sashiko, as this fabric will fray more than regular patchwork cottons.
