#218 dark brown 40m fine Yokota Daruma sashiko thread
Fine 4-ply mercerised sashiko thread 40m card, shade #218 dark brown, Daruma brand by Yokota. Suitable for all your sashiko and boro stitching. Use doubled for a bolder effect. Also excellent for big stitch quilting.
This carded mercerised thread is the same weight as the 170m 4-ply Daruma sashiko thread and 370m 4-ply fine sashiko thread I sell, but has a different colour range. By selecting between these ranges, you can make many subtle colour combinations.
Because it is mercerised, it won't 'shred' or go slightly fluffy when stitching. While it is convenient to have a thread ready to use on a card and you can easily cut the length you need, it will be slightly 'kinked' from storage, so just smooth down each thread as it is cut, before starting to stitch..
Sashiko needles - may be used with any of the sashiko needles I sell, including the smallest size from the Clover 8 sashiko needle packs.

How to open your sashiko skein
Sashiko threads skeins have to be opened out before use. Slide of the skein band first. You will find all the thread is tied together at one point. Cut through the skein at the knot, so all the threads are cut (you'll find these are the ideal length for stitching doubled). Push all the thread through the skein band, and then plait the thread loosely. Pull out each thread as you need it from the loop end of the plait, not the 'fringed' end. This saves time trying to wind the thread into a ball, keeps it tidy and you know the thread shade number if you need to re order.
