Just released in this new colour! This is a thicker cotton fabric from Olympus Thread Mfg. Co., excellent for sashiko, patchwork, bag making and other projects. It is made to look like old cloth, with subtle colours (the range is inspired by 'forests, herbs, flowers and earth' colours), and feels like a soft, handwoven cotton. OL100U is a two tone blue black colour that resembles a very dark natural indigo. The inspiration for the new shades was 'denim' and it would be great for boro on jeans! Think of the darkest shade of denim and that's OL100U. Unlike denim, this is a flatweave, so easier to stitch for sashiko.

The weave is loose enough to easily stitch sashiko with fine, medium or thick sashiko threads. Ideal for wearables, boro style patchwork, or any project where an antique look is desired.

Shades OL100S greenish blue, OL100T 'indigo' blue and OL100W mustard yellow are also in stock, and I am hoping to stock OL100V (dark red) as soon as it is available again.

  • Zigzag or overlock the edges before stitching sashiko, as this fabric will fray more than regular patchwork cottons.
