This gorgeous sparkle lamé 6-strand embroidery thread 8m skein, in shade #S108 silver and black, can be used to add a touch of sparkle to all your creative embroidery projects.  Split and use one, two, three or more strands as required. Thread may be split and recombined with other embroidery threads to add just a hint of metallic, or used as is. All six strands can also be couched.

While this is not a sashiko or kogin thread and should not be expected to be a hardwearing thread, I thought it could be used to add a touch of decorative shimmer and sparkle to the ornaments with the wonderful 'Season's Greetings' Christmas tree panel from QH textiles. It would also look amazing used for a shiny version of kogin, on 20 count fabric, or with a single strand added to regular kogin thread.

  • Kogin threads skeins have to be opened out before use. Slide of the skein band first. You will find all the thread is tied together at one point.  Cut through the skein at the knot, so all the threads are cut (you'll find these are the ideal length for stitching doubled).  Push all the thread through the skein band, and then plait the thread loosely.  Pull out each thread as you need it from the loop end of the plait, not the 'fringed' end. This saves time trying to wind the thread into a ball, keeps it tidy and you know the thread shade number if you need to re order.
