Just arrived in this new colour! This is a thicker cotton fabric from Olympus Thread Mfg. Co., excellent for sashiko, patchwork, bag making and other projects. It is made to look like old cloth, with subtle colours (the range is inspired by 'forests, herbs, flowers and earth' colours), and feels like a soft, handwoven cotton. Sakizome Momen is a little firmer than Azumino cotton, making it a good choice for projects that need to be hardwearing, like bags or boro style jeans patching, but a similar thickness. OL100K is a two tone lilac purple, and is a similar shade to Kofu Tsumugi #2504, but without any black thread in the weave. Although it looks a little like denim, with a two tone warp and weft, this is a flatweave, so easier to stitch for sashiko.

The weave is loose enough to easily stitch sashiko with fine, medium or thick sashiko threads. Ideal for wearables, boro style patchwork, or any project where an antique look is desired.

  • Zigzag or overlock the edges before stitching sashiko, as this fabric will fray more than regular patchwork cottons.
