Olympus have brought out a Limited Edition of my panels, printed on 'Autumn colours' Kofu Tsumugi. This listing is for the mustard yellow colourway in traditional geometric designs, complimented with individual floral motifs. It is a limited edition and there are no plans to repeat the print run. I have the plain version of this kofu tsumugi fabric in stock as well. The other two colourways are russet and brick red. If you would like one of these, don't wait - they are not repeatable!
The new 2020 panels in the 'Autumn' colourway (also limited edition) are available printed on the same mustard yellow Kofu Tsumugi fabric, and coordinate beautifully with the 2019 mustard yellow one. The same fabric is also available unprinted, by the half metre, as an unprinted 30 x 35cm pre cut, and is also the same fabric as the TC-5 printed sashiko coaster panel, so there are lots of options for adding more to this panel, if you would like to make the different designs up as a quilt.
A selection of ready to stitch kamon crest sashiko patterns adapted from my book 'Japanese Quilt Blocks to Mix and Match', hand printed by Olympus Thread Mfg. Co. in Japan on their beautiful Kofu Tsumugi 100% cotton (coloured warp, black weft, with tiny slubs). Available in indigo blue, deep red, dark green, ink black, grey (taupe) and light blue (slate blue) - click here to view. Each stitch is clearly marked, so they are easy to sew.
Each hand-printed pattern is washed away with water and disappears, leaving no mark on the work. Do not prewash your panel, or all your marks will disappear! The panel's squares are 9 1/2in (24cm) and 4 1/2in (11.5cm) approx. They can be cut up and used like quilt blocks or stitched as a whole panel (it looks good if the cutting lines are left unsewn). The possibilities are endless!
100% cotton
Size - Approximately 108 cm selvedge to selvedge (print width: 96 cm) x 60cm wide.
NB - about my panels -
- Zigzag or overlock (or faux lock) over the cut edges before starting to stitch - all fabrics for sashiko will tend to fray.
- The edge beyond the dashed lines at the side is the cutting edge of the panel - the panel actually starts on the dashed line.
- Colours will not run.
Thread suggestions - suitable for any medium or fine sashiko thread. One panel uses approx. 100m sashiko thread used singly, more if doubled or in a combination of doubled and single threads. The Olympus Thread Mfg. Co. 100m sashiko thread, available in 14 colours, is ideal.
Needle - Olympus Thread Mfg. Co. sashiko needles in packs of two or four.
Please see my FAQs page for more information about stitching this panel.
