This coordinated combination of four 40m Yokota Daruma medium sashiko thread colours was inspired by photos of the countryside around my friend's home in the Corrèze department (in the Limousin region of rural France), which is dominated by extensive forests. Although I visited in spring, I am familiar with the changing seasonal colour from her photos, and these four threads - #3 mustard yellow, #4 dark brown, #25 olive green, and #21 burnt orange - are the late autumn colours in that region. I hope to see the colours for myself sometime, and think they make a beautiful combination for a sashiko project.
Yokota Daruma medium sashiko threads are a 6-ply thread, but feel slightly finer and smother than my other medium sashiko threads. They are very easy to stitch with.
Ideal with printed sashiko sampler hanafukin panels. Many hanafukin require one skein of thread approx. if used singly, more if used doubled. These colour themed packs are a great choice if you want to vary the colours used on your panel, perhaps coordinating several panels, by using the same selection of thread colours.
All these threads are also available individually.

'Leaf Fall' four x 40m Yokota medium sashiko threads pack
Sashiko threads skeins have to be opened out before use. Slide of the skein band first. You will find all the thread is tied together at one point. Cut through the skein at the knot, so all the threads are cut (you'll find these are the ideal length for stitching doubled). Push all the thread through the skein band, and then plait the thread loosely. Pull out each thread as you need it from the loop end of the plait, not the 'fringed' end. This saves time trying to wind the thread into a ball, keeps it tidy and you know the thread shade number if you need to re order.
