From the Tribal collection by Philip Jacobs for Snow Leopard Designs, produced by Free Spirit fabrics, 'Bukara' in the terra colourway is inspired by tribal kilim carpets (first photo). Photos 2 - 6 show some of the other fabrics from this collection which I stock.

Of course, for us, this fabric just shouts 'World Texile Day', our travelling one day pop up events around the UK, and especially the fabulous carpets sold by one of our traders, Andrew from The Nomad's Tent, based in Edinburgh. I love the elaborate geometric designs seen in kilims, so being able to use them as fabrics in a patchwork project is a real treat.

Quantities are limited, and I can't reorder.

Philip Jacobs has been designing fabrics for over four decades and is a highly respected textile artist. He takes inspiration from many sources including nature and antique fabrics especially Oriental art and textiles, Japanese and Chinese traditional designs, including prints. Well known for his exquisite floral fabrics, his draughtsmanship is second to none. He designs for two patchwork fabric brands, Snow Leopard Designs (his solo work) and the Kaffe Fasset Collective (KFC!). Read more about Philip's work on the Snow Leopard Designs Facebook page. You can watch Philip talking about his fabrics and his textile story as one of the UK's top designers here on YouTube, when he launched a different collection several years ago on Sewing Quarter.
