A lovely sashiko book by Kumiko Yoshida, with many new larger geometric sashiko designs, and a sprinkling of hitomezashi (one stitch sashiko) patterns too. 'Sashiko no hanafukin to komono’ (sashiko flower cloths and small things) is the follow up to her previous book 'Sashiko no kawaii hanafukin' (cute sashiko flower cloths), which I also have in stock, and follows a similar format, but with different sashiko patterns. Perfect for use with the plain hanafukin fabrics, or any of my other sashiko fabrics, and fine (4-ply or 3-ply) or medium (6-ply) sashiko threads. All the patterns are stitched as hanafukin cloths, in many colour combinations, which gives the designs a fresh, modern appeal, and the styled photos give many ideas for their use. There are 26 different large geometric sashiko patterns, including some new ones, and 5 hitomezashi (one stitch) sashiko designs), which are presented as two colour diagrams, and shown again in black and white at full size.

The text, as you can see from the photos, is all in Japanese, but if you have done a little sashiko before you will find the diagrams very easy to follow. You can use phone apps like Google translate to scan and auto translate text too. Measurements are all in metric throughout.

Who would enjoy this book? If you love drawing and marking sashiko panels yourself and have done a little before, this would be a great book to expand your pattern repertoire.

80 pages, mostly in full colour. Full size pattern pages are in black and white.
