This linen look 100% cotton fabric from Japanese manufacturer Sevenberry homespun cotton is printed to look like vintage katazome (stencil dyed) fabric, in cream on dark indigo blue. The slightly lower thread count, linen look plain weave, and soft thickness is almost identical to the Takumi range from Olympus Thread Mfg. Co., and the two ranges work well together. Ideal for boro inspired work, sashiko, bags, home textile or wearables, this is a versatile fabric. I included it in some of the projects in 'The Book of Boro'. Lovely to hand stitch.
Sevenberry don't name their fabric patterns, just give them code numbers, which can be hard to remember, so we call this one botan (peony). The scroll details make the pattern a kind of karakusa (arabesque) design, which have been popular in Japan since the 7th century AD.
110cm (43in) wide (approx).

NB - international shipping* is temporarily disabled. New shipping rates by weight will be coming soon!
*EU shipping can only resume when the EU simplifies its VAT regulations on mail orders. Please complain to your MEP to try to change the regs for small non EU businesses! We can't calculate, charge and remit the different amounts of VAT to all 27 EU countries four times a year, when we are one person businesses. It is too much admin and too expensive to employ an EU based agent as currently required.
