Medium 6-ply mercerised sashiko thread 100m skein, shade #53 shaded blues to white, Daruma brand by Yokota. Suitable for all your sashiko and boro stitching.  Use doubled for a bolder effect. Can also be used for big stitch quilting.

Please note this listing is for one skein only. There are several shown in the second photo, so you can see the colour variety in the thread. They all look the same when opened out.

This mercerised thread is the same weight as the other 100m 6-ply sashiko thread I sell, but has a different colour range. By selecting between these ranges, you can many subtle colour combinations. There is slightly more white in these Yokota shaded threads than in the other 100m shaded sashiko threads.

Because it is mercerised, it won't 'shred' or go slightly fluffy when stitching.

Sashiko needles - may be used with any of the sashiko needles I sell.

  • Sashiko threads skeins have to be opened out before use. Slide of the skein band first. You will find all the thread is tied together at one point.  Cut through the skein at the knot, so all the threads are cut (you'll find these are the ideal length for stitching doubled).  Push all the thread through the skein band, and then plait the thread loosely.  Pull out each thread as you need it from the loop end of the plait, not the 'fringed' end. This saves time trying to wind the thread into a ball, keeps it tidy and you know the thread shade number if you need to re order.
