This fabulous kit from Olympus Thread Mfg. Co. is printed in grey on indigo blue on their special sashiko fabric, a thicker fabric I use for my sashiko classes. The panel is already hemmed, so all you have to do is enjoy stitching the beautiful sashiko design featuring Mt Fuji, cranes and cherry blossoms, with a border of shippo (seven treasures) pattern across the bottom edge. The large panel makes a stunning table centre or could be adapted as a wall hanging.
The thread in the kit is six strand kogin thread, so use it as a single complete strand to stitch the design, without splitting it. Kogin thread gives the sashiko stitching a particularly bold and pleasing effect.
Kit contains one printed panel, two skeins of white kogin thread, two sashiko needles, traditional leather yubinuki palm thimble, and instructions in Japanese. The instructions include excellent diagrams and you don't need to be able to read the text, but you can always use a phone app like Google Translate to 'read' the Japanese instructions.
Panel size is 35 x 75cm (13 3/4 x 29 1/2in).
Marks wash out. NB - the marks have less contrast than my pre printed sashiko panels. The fabric is indigo colour, not natural indigo, so the colour won't run.
