Ideal for making small boro inspired projects from 'The Book of Boro', this pack includes fourteen 25 x 27cm (approx.) assorted pieces cut from approx. 110cm wide new fabrics from various collections, plus a 170m skein of fine cream sashiko thread. These patchwork weight cotton fabrics have various printed and woven designs, and include Japanese printed craft cottons, Kofu Tsumugi

slubbed shot cottons, and other weaves and prints. this is the second batch I’ve cut of this pack, and it is a slightly different assortment of fabrics, with about 50% of the fabrics the same as the original pack. I have chosen them to echo the kinds of vintage fabrics sold at Japanese boroichi or flea markets.

This selection is ideal for mixing with scraps and oddments of fabrics and threads from your stash to give your boro inspired project an authentic Japanese boro style and texture. The pack includes one 170m skein of fine 4-ply Yokota Daruma Sashiko thread in shade shade #2 cream, perfect for stitching boro inspired work.

Boro textiles were often stitched with contrasting cream or white thread. Fine sashiko thread is excellent thread for stiching boro, and one I use a lot. I recommend using the smaller sizes of Clover sashiko needle

s for stitching boro inspired work with this thread, as they will go through the fabric a little easier than the larger sashiko needles.

There is enough fabric to make a couple of boro tote bags following the free pattern on my TV & Free Stuff page

(with extra fabric used for the bag foundation and handles). Boro inspiration packs were very popular when I launched them at the autumn World Textile Days in 2021 and I'm adding more online soon.
