#5 fine sashiko thread 370m skein vermilion red
This fine sashiko thread is amazing value, with 370m on each skein. Use if doubled or singly for finer details. Ideal for hitomezashi sashiko, boro rag patchwork and for use on finer fabrics where medium sashiko threads may feel too thick. I have used it a lot for big stitch hand quilting and it is perfect - strong and economical. It is the same thread used by Yuza Sashiko Guild.
This listing is for one skein of #5 vermilion red. The second photo shows it next to #24 primary red and #25 soft red, although it is quite difficult to see the subtle difference on screen! #5 has a slightly orange hue, #25 looks slightly 'antique' or faded and #24 is a true primary red.
Suitable for any sashiko needles.

How to open your sashiko skein
Sashiko threads skeins have to be opened out before use. You will find all the thread is tied together at one point. Cut through the skein at the knot, so all the threads are cut (you'll find these are the ideal length for stitching doubled). Now plait the thread loosely. Pull out each thread as you need it from the loop end of the plait, not the 'fringed' end. This saves time trying to wind the thread into a ball and keeps it tidy. As you remove threads and the plait becomes looser, you can replait the skein.
