This is a 1p downloadable pdf pattern which has been previously published elsewhere. It is not a kit.

The only reason it costs 1p is because my website listing won't let me list anything free! I'll be donating the 1p to charity.

'Kokage (“shade of the tree”), reminiscent of graceful weeping branches, is a tranquil and easy to stitch modern sashiko design in two colours of sashiko thread.  You need fabric suitable for sashiko, sashiko thread and needle, and fabric for backing (as listed).  Cushion panel 17 3/4in (45cm) square.'

The design has been resized so you can use Olympus Azumino fabric precuts, which measure 45 x 55cm (imperial or USA fat quarter size).  The original cushion was green, similar to shade 58, and made from a slightly larger metric or 50cm fat quarter (19 ½ in approx.) If you have this larger size piece of fabric and want to make the finished cushion a little bigger, just draw a 17 3/4in (45cm) square in the centre of the fabric before you begin and take your line spacings from that, but stitch the vertical lines to within 3/8in (1cm) of the fabric edge.

It looks great stitched with one plain 20m sashiko thread and one shaded.

Skill level - just above beginner to intermediate.
