A new kind of sashiko thread - Sashiko Lamé - has a sparkle thread running through it! Add a little magic to your sashiko stitching, which will twinkle in the light like fairy dust. This listing is for all five new colours, in 40m skeins, with a nice discount too.  It is a four ply thread, so slightly finer than the medium 6 ply sashiko thread. Takeshi san writes -'Add the brilliance of "Sashiko Lamè" to "usual sashiko" We propose the fun of making “new sashiko” with an elegant shine. We made a thread that shines with glitter every time I stitch. It is fine and goes well with delicate patterns. We are particular about the thinness of the thread that can express not only traditional patterns, but also detailed patterns such as hitomezashi (one stitch sashiko) and kuguri-zashi ('go through' or woven sashiko). There are many color variation. We have created a trendy light tone color lineup that is easy to match with any color. Shine with every stitch! Sashiko Lamè is our new release.'

Suitable for all your sashiko stitching, or any embroidery where a little bit of sparkle wanted, including big stitch quilting. May be used double or singly.

  • Sashiko threads skeins have to be opened out before use. Slide of the skein band first. You will find all the thread is tied together at one point.  Cut through the skein at the knot, so all the threads are cut (you'll find these are the ideal length for stitching doubled).  Push all the thread through the skein band, and then plait the thread loosely.  Pull out each thread as you need it from the loop end of the plait, not the 'fringed' end. This saves time trying to wind the thread into a ball, keeps it tidy and you know the thread shade number if you need to re order.

'If you want to create something a little different from your usual sashiko, then the new color "Sashiko Lamé" sashiko thread is for you.

'Enriched variations of the popular white SL1 - new shades SL11 and SL12 - We have added gold and aurora lamé variations to the classic white sashiko. Why not add a little sparkle to your usual sashiko?

'New colors inspired by the beautiful scenery of Japan SL13, SL14, SL15 - In Japan, it has long been natural to express the fleeting sparkles found in nature in various words. The new colors inspired by that beauty go perfectly with traditional Japanese patterns as well as flower and tree patterns. Enjoy sashiko that creates a different atmosphere with the addition of lamé.'
