Azumino cotton #17 russet/tomato red by the half metre
A thicker cotton fabric from Olympus Thread Mfg. Co., excellent for sashiko, patchwork, bag making and other projects. It is made to look like old cloth, with subtle colours and a slight wrinkle in the texture, and feels like a soft, handwoven cotton. The weave is loose enough to easily stitch sashiko with fine, medium or thick sashiko threads. Ideal for wearables, boro style patchwork, or any project where an antique look is desired. This a rich russet, almost tomato coloured red, slightly different from #60, which is a slightly darker, primary red.
This is the same fabric that was used for many of the projects and pattern directory samples in 'The Ultimate Sashiko Sourcebook', including the large sampler quilt opposite the title page.
The full 30 colour range is available as 45 x 54cm precuts.
Made in Japan
NB - sold in half metre (50cm) lengths, so please order '2' for one metre, '3' for 1 1/2m etc. Fabric will be sent as one continous length. Maximum length on bolt is 5 metres.
Zigzag or overlock the edges before stitching sashiko, as this fabric will fray more than regular patchwork cottons.
